Sing It Out is a jewel in AHA!’s after-school line up.
Sing It Out is a unique 12-week journey of self-actualization, resiliency, relationship-building, and artistic expression. Participating teenagers meet with AHA! facilitators and music mentors to navigate the individual and shared journey of reclaiming one’s voice and identity, culminating in their mastery of one solo cover song and performance (backed by a live rock band) on the historic Lobero Theater stage.
Teens are joined by two adult staff members who participate with them as older peers who are on the same journey of vulnerability and growth.
The final performance which has been called “the feel good event of the year” gives the youth the once-in-a-lifetime Rockstar moment in front of a packed and loving house.
No singing or performance experience needed to join.
In the words of an AHA! supporter,
“I don’t think there is any event better than the ‘Sing It Out’ by AHA!…The premise is that a group of teens facing social, emotional, and anxiety challenges work with an amazing group of musicians to overcome their fears and have the chance to perform on stage in front of a packed house of wildly cheering supporters. It is absolutely one of the most wonderful and uplifting evening—and a privilege to be there.”
This year’s event, originally scheduled for Saturday, May 9, has been cancelled due to restrictions. Save the date of Saturday, May 2, 2021 when we will again celebrate at the Lobero Theatre.
