Sing It Out
Sing It Out is the culminating celebration of one of AHA!’s spring after-school groups. Through 13 weeks each spring, we shepherd a dozen teens through a 12-week program where they are coached by music and theater professionals and AHA! facilitators to learn, master and perform a rock and roll cover song.
Public speaking is said to be the greatest fear of most people, and for most of these youth – most of whom do not have singing or theatrical experience – getting to the point where they can bust out a rock and roll song backed by a live band is truly a process of transformation. As they learn to overcome fears and individual challenges, these youth also learn to support their peers, accept support from peers and trusted adult facilitators and coaches, and to stand tall and sing their hearts open in the face of fear.
The event is held each spring in the gorgeous rotunda at the Deckers Brands headquarters in Goleta. These teens give the breakthrough performance of a lifetime to a packed house of cheering friends, family, and community supporters.

Hike for AHA!
Each fall, 80 or more hikers convene for a seven-mile hike at the scenic Romero Canyon trailhead in Montecito. These committed hikers each pledge to raise at least $500 to support AHA! Local schools and businesses organize teams and fundraise as groups. Every hiker who raises at least $1000 in pledges receives a gift certificate for a pair of Ahnu boots from event sponsor Deckers Brands. The event is full of laughter, great food and camaraderie. It’s a chance to connect with others who believe in the value of AHA!’s work with teens.
The post-hike celebration features refreshments and a catered lunch at a gorgeous Montecito estate. This year’s hike will take place on Saturday, November 7, rain or shine. For more information about the hike or to register, visit hikeforaha.org
